ITA: Come qualcuno saprà, sono rappresentata sul mercato estero da The Bright Agency e, fra le varie opportunità strafighe che l’agenzia offre ai suoi illustratori, c’è quella di lavorare a dei mini progetti mirati a rispondere all’attuale domanda dell’industria editoriale.
Quindi eccomi con il brief di maggio, dedicato ai coloratissimi Picture Book!
La campagna di questo mese è dedicata alle scene di vita quotidiana e alle situazioni buffe e bizzarre.
La richiesta era di elaborare una copertina e un’apertura, abbracciando il tema delle famiglie diversificate e portando il focus sul climax della storia.

So here I am with the May's brief, dedicated to the colorful Picture Books!
This month's campaign centers to everyday life scenes as funny and bizarre situations too.
The request was to develop a cover and a spread, embracing the theme of diverse families and focusing to the climax of the story.

ITA: Per la copertina ho deciso di concentrare l’attenzione sul titolo, disegnando una composizione dinamica ed esuberante che richiama il movimento dell’impasto che irruente sbuca via dal forno. Questo lo vedremo nella doppia disegnata più avanti, intanto riporto alcuni sketch preparatori dell’hand lettering.
ENG: For the cover design I decided to focus on the title, drawing a dynamic and exuberant composition which reminds the movement of the dough that bursts out of the oven. We will see this later, meanwhile I report some preparatory sketches of the hand lettering.
ITA: Per i personaggi, mi piaceva l’idea che formassero un unico blocco spinto dalla diagonale generata dal pasticcio che esplode dal forno.
Di solito i miei personaggi interagiscono ognuno nel suo spazio vitale, evitando strane tangenze e sovrapposizioni. Questa volta la mia personalissima sfida era disegnare characters diversi che si muovessero insieme entro la stessa shape.
ENG: For the characters, I liked the idea that they formed a single block pushed out by the compositive diagonal generated by the mess exploding from the oven.
Usually my characters interact each in their own living space, avoiding strange overlaps. This time my very personal challenge was to draw different characters that moved together within the same shape.
