Katya Solodina's assemblage series recycles plastic food trays into shadowboxes, symbolically preserving important memories of random Soviet families.

The artist's main question is: why were almost all family portraits in the Soviet Union made with sad, serious "passport photo" faces? At that time, a photo was a rare treasure meant to capture the most important moments of people's lives. What made them appear serious in their happiest moments?
Through this juxtaposition, Solodina explores memory, nostalgia, and the complexities of personal history, inviting viewers to reflect on the nuances of human emotion and the construction of personal narratives within the broader context of eternity.
