MENTAL HEALTH WEEK | CLOTHING DESIGN
Assignment:
This week was European Mental Health Week from May 13 to 16. These days were focused on reflection, collaboration, workshops, and more. We were given a project where we could choose from these four assignments: Photography (still life), Music Video, Interaction Design, and Clothing Design. We chose Clothing Design because it seemed really fun to us. For the Clothing Design assignment, you had to come up with a print for a clothing item with the theme of Mental Health. You created a collection as a group, and individually, everyone made a design.

3 MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES WE CHOSE:
Depression: Depression is a mood disorder characterized by persistent feelings of sadness, loss of interest in enjoyable activities, and other symptoms that interfere with daily life. It can range from mild to severe and typically requires treatment such as therapy and medication.

Anxiety: Anxiety is normal in response to stress, but in an anxiety disorder, it's excessive and can disrupt daily life. This can lead to physical symptoms and avoidance behavior. Treatments are available to help manage it, such as therapies and medications.

Low self-esteem: Low self-esteem means not feeling good about yourself. People with low self-esteem often doubt themselves and feel insecure. This can affect how they do in relationships, at work, and how happy they feel overall.
FITTING COLORS:
Blue: Blue represents stability, tranquility, loyalty, and wisdom. It's the color of the sky and the sea. The color blue slows down human metabolism and can have a calming effect on mood. Blue light is associated with calmness and stability.

Pink: Love, passion, care. That's what the color pink represents. In a space with a light pink hue, a sense of comfort, tranquility, positivity, and trust is fostered. Scientific studies have shown that prolonged exposure to the color pink has a calming, reassuring effect on people. Therefore, using pink lighting can evoke a sense of euphoria.

Green: Green is nature's color, symbolizing feelings of harmony, fertility, freshness, youthfulness, and growth. It is, alongside blue, one of the most calming colors, capable of instilling a sense of stability and relaxation

Yellow/Orange: Yellow is the color of the sun and is therefore associated with feelings of happiness, joy, and carefreeness. Like orange, yellow also stimulates brain activity and provides a boost of energy to the muscles.

Purple: Purple combines red and blue and symbolizes power, wealth, independence, wisdom, mystery, magic, and creativity. It's no wonder purple is associated with royalty.
BRAND:
How did we came up with "Soulstitch"?
"Soulstitch" combines "soul" and "stitch." The name represents healing and strengthening the spirit through fashion. Our brand aims to support mental health and provide a sense of connection and hope with every piece of clothing.
DESIGNS:
What do the designs show?
1: The first t-shirt shows what it feels like when someone's really down, like in depression. The messy black marks represent all those overwhelming thoughts that just won't leave you alone.

2: On the second t-shirt, it's about feeling anxious. You know, when you're worried about what others think of you and you're really hard on yourself? That's what the labels and stuff symbolize.

3: Lastly, the third t-shirt is about not feeling great about yourself, like having low self-esteem. But the heart on it reminds us that loving yourself is super important, especially when times are tough.
