When I decided to create a series of illustrations about social anxiety, I planned to use real-life photos of my city to recreate the feeling in its most organic state. As I was picture-hunting, I noticed an unusual symmetry in the row of commuters sitting across from me, and was especially drawn to the central matriarch. With a few modifications (including recreating the face of the gentleman on the far right), the photo proved an excellent foundation for the drawing.
