These illustrations are derived from the stories of Mulla Nasruddin, and the story is narrated as such: One day, Mulla says Help! Help! a thief has stolen his carpet, quilt, mattress, gamucha(towel), turban, and tablecloth. When people investigated, they realized that only his gamucha had been stolen. They said to Mulla, 'Why do you lie, Mulla? The thief has only stolen your gamucha(towel).' Mulla replied, 'I told the truth because this gamucha was used in place of all those things.
