Threadless Contest: Odd Couple (2013)
I chose Ron Swanson, from NBC’s Parks and Recreation, and Paul Bunyan. I figured they would be a match made in heaven. Both with their passionate love of breakfast food, and their fondness for woodworking. Not to mention their distinctive and well kept facial hair.
I thought it was a fitting contrast between new and old story telling. They're both the standards of manliness from different eras.
Who knows, Paul Bunyan may have loved a woman named Tammy.
Threadless Contest: Regular Show (2013)
The inspiration for this design came about because I always thought Pops's head looks like the moon; he always acts and appears as though he is from a different era. Then it brought to mind the old short film, one of the first ever produced, A Trip To The Moon (Le Voyage dans la Lune). This is paying homage to the most famous scenes in which an actor, dressed as the moon, has a rocket carrying philosophers crashes into his eye. I thought it was appropriate referencing the space theme that occurs in so many episodes, and as a way to date pops. It also serves as an example of how far we have come in film and television.
Threadless Contest: The Simpsons (2013)
This design was inspired by a sketch that one of the Simpson animators did in a How To Draw The Simpsons book that I have had forever.
He compared Chief Wiggum's head to a stack of donuts, which is very true when doing it. So I took that and amped it up and made it more than a sketch.
Then I realized it was a immature commentary of the Springfield Police Force, maybe portrayed on a street corner by a more mature El Barto. Bartsy.
