I was very concerned with the information I gathered from the report published by the Human Rights Watch. The detailed report combines facts about Labor laws in the U.S. for agricultural farmworkers, interviews with teenage and pre-teenage farmworkers in the U.S., and facts about various topics relative to the tobacco industry in America. This information includes pesticide use, effects of exposure to tobacco plants, and demographics of tobacco farmworkers. 

 

With so much information to process at once, I wanted to create an infographic to display some of the key points of this research. I am not claiming any of this research as my own. Any information presented in my graphic that did not originate form the HRW report is cited separately.

I drew some inspiration from this small graphic by HRW. I wanted to expand on the information presented.

This was my first infographic and so the rough draft was more of an experiment. After some criticism about the color scheme, heirarchy, and typefaces, I decided to go back to square one and redesign it.

This is the final design. The color scheme is more fitted to the graphics and font color. The title was changed. The heirarchy is improved with the cigarette vector in the background helping to lead the eye along the graphic.
