Garden Boat shed - Wellington water front

Wellington oriental bay boat sheds
My proposal of a public garden space which is built into the oriental bay boat sheds is Inspired by the architect Carlo Scarpa's plays of water that shapes structure and gives feeling of 'walking on water' ,the use of concrete with precious materials and levels that determine paths of movement. The Fortworth water gardens is used as a precedent to create a location for occupants to explore and sit to view. The space is filled with water in according to the tide level giving a living and ever changing effect due to the acknowledgment of the changes in natural processes that effect the materials of concrete and copper. By linking with the existing Waitangi park drainage system the water has cycle of dispersion where the storm water is flows out to the ocean. The space is lite 24 hours to give security and safety.
