MITZI SPALLAS
FREELANCE HAIR STYLIST/COLORIST/PLATFORM ARTIST/EDUCATOR
I have been a hairstylist since I graduated from Cosmetology school in 1987. I love doing hair! I worked in a couple of salons, then became a platform artist for a large company called "Zotos International". After 3 years, I became one of 5 members of the "Zotos Artistic Council", a group of hairdressers chosen out of about 100 in the country, who designed and taught the next seasons' hair trends to other hairdressers. It was a great honor and a lot of hard work, but I still wanted more. After a year, I left the East Coast and decided to try my hand at freelancing in Los Angeles. I remember sitting in my first agent's office (Visage Agency) in 1991, and heard a voice come over the loudspeaker, "Madonna on Line 2".....I was so excited! I knew that was what I wanted to do with my life. So that is exactly what I've done, for the last 20 years! I moved on to the Cloutier Agency, and have had an amazing career. I left my agency last year, because I wanted to see what life was like without having an agent. I'm still on the fence about it....I love the freedom to speak and work directly with the clients, but I miss having someone in my corner. I'm also back in the salon, which I ADORE! I had forgotten how much I loved working in a good salon. My salon is called "WORKS OF ART" in Los Feliz, CA. I'm also sticking my little toe back into Platform work, wanting to make sure I still like doing it before I commit 100%. (If the right company comes along, I would consider jumping in with both feet!). I still do freelance, and love working with new people. I'll post my work as I can. I think I've done more incredible work in the last year than I have in the previous 10. So keep checking back, because I still have a lot of dreams that I have yet to accomplish!
