The Girl in the Box Sprites[Apmil]

2d Sprites I created for the game titled: "Girl in the Box" by Apmil Game Studio
Girl in the Box was to be a 2d sidescrolling, puzzle platformer.
The art style was based on how shadow puppet performances looked.
Barrels and Planks
The sprites for the barrels were created by using an Alpha mask. The mask was obtained from the tweaked Ambient Occlusion pass of 3d models I created. The sprites were then tweaked and finalised in photoshop.
Ferns
These ferns are a base and combination of loose leaves, to allow a little customisation when placed in game.
Hanging Grasses/Mosses
When I started work on one of the first caves in the game that contained foliage we realised there was a distinct lack in hanging foliage.
Rocks/Ledges
These rocks ended up being used in large parts of the game due to the interesting combinations of terrain that could be created using them.
Minecart
This minecart was made modular for more variation options in game. It also originated from a 3d model I made.
Background Detailed Rocks
These rocks were the first created using the 3d model route. I was the only one on the project to use 3d models and their Ambient Occlusion pass to create sprites.
This method was only used on a few objects that would benefit from having a gradient colour.
Mushrooms
Looase Village Assets
The lamps and lanterns were drawn in photoshop. The mailbox and Barrel made use of the 3d model technique.
Bamboo Plants
Mining Complex Assets
Mining Complex Buildings
You were to pass under the arch of this building to enter the Mining Complex. It was to be the first building you encounter since leaving the village at the beginning of the game.
