These collaborative illustrations, created by myself and Christina Mrozik, are a few of the 28 drawings that will be included in the upcoming book titled Intricacies. We are currently crowdsourcing funding for the first print run of Intricacies through Kickstarter.
Each illustration measures 15” x 11” and was drawn in graphite, taking between 30 to 50 hours to complete. They are the product of long, quiet periods of observation on the ten acres of land that surround our Michigan studio, and in landscapes past. With our tight drawing style and love of detail, we have woven rich natural imagery into precarious moments that hint at stories of heartache and personal growth. We’re hoping that when everything is moving too fast, that slipping into these illustrations can give you the slow, quiet space that we had this summer. We hope that maybe they will give you reason to pause and notice the small, mysterious things that lie just out of sight in our everyday.
