Chroma Ballet Illustration

XL Recordings sets a brief in collaboration with B&A Reps London which requires us to create an illustration using a significant events from their history. The historical event chosen for this project was Richard Russell and Joby Talbot producing an avant garde orchestral Aluminium album, which pays tribute to the White Stripes and turned into Chroma, a ballet premièred at the Royal Opera House in London. We were to take this knowledge and create an illustration that signifies this event.

This ballet performance was different from usual, as the choreographer had to first listen to the music and then come up with the dance moves. The performance allows all our own ideologies of musical ideas to be discarded to create a harmonious combination of the physical body and music.

The stage was especially built to give the white a volume of space, it is called the White box. Understanding that the use of white is an important aspect to this historical scene we use the concept of "freedom of white".

The illustration is an abstract depiction of the events that took place in that event the idea was to create solid yet dynamic illustration. Using the idea the architect use when designing the stage, I used the element of the "white box" to achieve the use of perspective to depict 3D illusion that the illustration is coming alive
