We all know that how we practise graphic design nowadays, obviously is completely different than how it was practiced fifty years ago but the answer to what graphic design nowadays exactly is is less distinct.

 

Fascinated by the profession itself, I went looking for the answer to the question "What is good graphic design?" My final publication describes the search for this answer. Not only did I want to encourage a discussion about what good design is, I also want to encourage designers (and especially design students) to form a critical opinion about our profession. I further give examples of a more effective, more useful way of working. Good design, for me, isn't about wich colour you use or a proper justification for the font you use. Good design is about recognizing the power you can put into a project as a designer; realize what you can achieve as a designer. Good design involves the use of this force.
