I created this cupcake business because I always thought it would be really neat to own a little bakery. I wanted to create something that also relates to me in some way, because I love to cook and bake for a hobby. I wanted this to feel very girly and classy. I wanted to communicate that Piece of Cake is a fun, creative, and classy place.

 

 

I learned that the bakery business is very competitive. There are so many out there with their own style. I looked at other sites color scheme, layouts, and the things they offer. When it comes to color schemes they all stick to a soft pink, purple, blue, or cream. Then they contrast it with a dark color or a shade of the color they used for the soft color. The layouts varied but there were always three or four other one with the same layout. Lastly the things they offered, some had less and some had more.  There were recipes, classes, materials, party packages, and many others.

  

 

My color scheme was based on what I thought would be very girly with some contrast. With the logo I started out with a full illustration of a cupcake, then I changed it to an outline that doesn’t define what type of cupcake it is. I first tried to use the illustration as the logo alone and it got lost so I added the name of the company. The name was a good idea but it needed to be contained together, to show that this is the brand. That is when I did some research on how other bakeries contained their logos. That is when the circle was added and made so much of a difference then where it started.

I always thought that the pillow like background, depending on color, looks very classy. Classy is one of the things I was trying to portray in my brand, it can be very classy with out being super expensive.
