In the Realm of the Ephemeral - Bethesda

Bethesda is a drawing and erasure piece created over a period of four days. I sat at the Bethesda fountain over a period of several hours drawing the various fragmented shapes that caught my attention from the passing and stable forms surrounding me. I allowed the shapes and images to rest in my memory, erasing all those which had not made a considerable impression after four days. The erasure marks are faint enough that one can still see the vague outlines of the shapes remembered yet not quite digested while those which resonated in my memory, appeared in my dreams remain much more clear. This is an exploration of the ephemral nature of memory and the impressions it can make on a viewer. This piece was vaguely inspired by the drawings of Robert Gober.
