Sins & Virtues of Graphic Design

Brief
'A book is a collection of pages bound together in some form of sequential order. The invention of movable type and hence the mass production of books, is one of the most important developments in our culture, without which we would not have the education, comforts, health, and life we have now. The printed book has served us well for over 500 years. Even in age of the internet, books still play a massive part in out consciousness, they still have an authority and importance to us, they literally make you laugh, make you cry and change your life.'
...Gavin Kirby, Donna Williams, lecturers.

Rolling onwards from this, my brief asked of me to design a book featuring my 7 Deadly sins and 7 Heavenly Virtues of Graphic Design. How this book was to be interoperated was entirely up to the designer.

Guidelines
The book needs to be 180x180
The sins and virtues can be as serious or as playful as you like
Each sin has its own page or spread
Each sin/virtue must be accompanied by text/explanation
The book needs to be bound

(Good news, you can answer this brief using any mediums you wish from photography, illustration, typographic, etc.)

My Response

I wanted to convey a storybook emotion within my book. I chose to do my 'Sins & Virtues' book this way to ensure that the reader was entertained. I felt strongly that the book shouldn't be explained directly or literally and to do this I used obscure metaphors to draw the reader in to wonder, what does Godzilla or Constellations has to do with my sins and virtues as a designer. Futhermore, I hope you enjoy looking at this booklet as much as I enjoyed designing it.
