These cartoony abstractions are a celebration of the occasion and my everyday experience— an embrace of the 'alloverness' that occurs in festivity. The pictures I create are not a literal depiction of celebrations, but, represent this notion through the expressiveness and color choices made in the pictures. The extreme saturation and liveliness in the paintings embody and welcome the playful nature behind celebrations. The use of cartoons is pivotal, it is in tune with the playfulness, and childlike qualities one feels when intoxicated at a celebration (one is completely focused on the moment, not the repercussions, no filters.) I was born in an age dominated by technology, TV, and cartoons. That was my first glimpse at an abstract reality, and ultimately the reason why saturated cartoony like forms are prevalent in my work.
