During my Fall 2014 semester abroad in Florence, Italy, I was faced with the challenge of making sculptures and trying to bring them back to the United States. My solution to this problem was to create a 3D model of a sculpture park. Within the park, there are sculptures that I have designed and eventually plan to execute back in the United States. While the park is a realistic model, it is also imaginative and represents my personality. The organized chaos and interactive placement of the sculptures question reality. The model interacts with its surroundings by penetrating the surface and becoming a life-sized sculpture that is made with a continuation of the same material from the small-scale model. If the pig is seen as weighing 500 pounds then the sculptures in the park are monumental. Many aspects of the High Renaissance were used as inspiration for this piece. References of Giambologna's Rape of the Sabine Woman and Michelangelo's Sistine Ceiling are found in my modernized sculptures.
