Built during the British Raj in Mumbai, India, The Gateway of India stands on the waterfront of South Mumbai overlooking the Arabian Sea. At 26m/85 feet high it was erected to commemorate the landing of their Majesties King George V and Queen Mary when they visited India in 1911.
The monument has faced three terror attacks: Twice in 2003, and was the disembarkation point in 2008 when four gunmen attacked the Taj Mahal Palace & Tower.
