A Stage 1 brief: simply to create a book with narrative from a memory on a selected topic.
I chose a story of while changing sides on a English Channel crossing to France, I was sick overboard and the wind caught it and threw it back into my face.
Looking at how memories and details fade over time, the lines are lost between the pages of the book; ebbing and flowing like the sea.
Accompanying the book is a booklet of photographs and physical documentation. Inside this my parents wrote the story of the event to contrast their memories with those of my then childlike mind.
Both booklets sit together inside a seasick bag themed slipcase.
