Knit - Knacks is a collection of upcycled embroidered washing machine drum stools. Each with a unique pattern with a unique perforated matrix. They open from the top to reveal a secret compartment for the odds and ends lying around the house.
Knit-Knacks first showcased at L'atelier Fanfreuche's TRASHY TREASURES exhibit in 2012 in Beirut, Lebanon as part of a collective art and design exhibit exploring the creative reuse of waste.
In 2017, 3 stools were chosen to take part of IFA's (German Institute for International Relations) PURE GOLD : UPCYCLED! UPGRADED! decade-long touring exhibition presenting 76 pieces by 53 designers from 7 regions of the world. This exhibit explores the golden potential of trashed materials and showcases innovative design solutions to the global trash crisis. Since then, the stools have toured through the cities of Hamburg, London, Myanmar, Yangon, Hanoi, Manila, and Bangkok.
The collection has since been featured in international art and design publications such as Patty Wongpakdee's ART WITHOUT WASTE : 500 UPCYCLED AND EARTH FRIENDLY DESIGNS.
