Delhi: The City with Heart

Delhi:  A city well known for it's food, culture, and art. The capital of India, Delhi is a combination of the memories of the past and the promise of the future.

A product of the metropolitan, corporate jungle that is Mumbai, the open spaces in Delhi and its architecture entranced me, the food enthralled me and the people made me feel right at home.
Watercolour is my go to medium. It gives me comfort and I have a better grasp of it than most things I've tried. And what better way to paint about the heart than to paint with the heart?
The book includes places like the Nizamuddin Dargah, Poet Mirza Ghalib's Haveli, Meherauli, Purana Qila and so on. Places with historical importance, places with people, places with food.

Meherauli is one of the places I've documented. It is one of the seven cities that formed Delhi and is one of the few cities that uses and retains a lot of it's historic structures like step wells, prayer areas, manicured lawns amongst the others.
This book is hand-built and is an accordian fold book. Sure, it contains various places but to my way of thinking the accordian fold turns them from places to parts of a whole.
I used the Typeface 'Print Clearly' because it's simple clean lines made sure it would accompany the visuals in harmony and not take away from it. Readability is key.
Both the places that feature on each page of the spread are placed together specifically because they're close to each other. This is to make sure if the reader decides to visit one of the places in the book he/she can choose to maybe go see the other if he/she prefers.
