To Kill a Mockingbird

For this brief I was tasked to create a new contemporary design for a re-release of a Penguin Books classic, 'To Kill a Mockingbird.'
The concept I have used to create this design uses a quotation from the novel, "Maycomb's usual disease." 'Maycomb' being the setting for the novel and it's usual disease being a metaphor for the racist attitude of the residents. I have used this to create the imagery for my design. By using modern day visuals of disease and cell structures I have placed this into the mockingbird shape to demonstrate how a mockingbird is plagued with the disease of everyone else. Therefore using modern day visuals makes this design contemporary as well as still connecting it to the classic from Penguin Books.
