Florescence. Greenhouse conditions

"Florescence. Greenhouse conditions" continues a theme of a project series devoted to Ukrainian cultural memory - the topic that commenced with an art-book "The Book Of Black Soil", installation "Grain Memory" and exposition "Florescence".

The essence of "Florescence" is a work with Ukrainian folk masters' heritage whose art even in hard times had a solid life core, stated unchangeable natural cycles and future flourishing. The exploration of this art needs certain conditions - sometimes almost like in a greenhouse or a lab. It gives an opportunity to analyze materials, time for experiments and a basis before a spring.

Project symbols are visualized through floral composition printed from graphic stencils. Images of flowers from folk paintings, Petrykivsky painting and Hanna Sobachko-Shostak's art works were taken as a base. She was influenced by Ukrainian avant-guard whose approach towards cultural heritage eventually becomes a link in perception of our memory.

Copying flowers from her predecessors' works and gating visual experience through herself, one gains an opportunity for new interpretations and hyperbolization of traditional symbols. Creation of graphic boards in engraving techniques made printing experiments with forms possible - their layers (depth/height) and multiplication (width). As a result a wide range of emotional filling appeared - from a large-scale ordered prosperity to a grief for the lost and a hope for a new blooming.

In a gallery space like in an art lab there is a chance in "Greenhouse conditions" to look at the stages of a project creation, motivation, notes and a result.
