The Last Emperor, a Film by Bernardo Bertolucci, has been a great inspiration for my paintings. It is a biographical film abot Pu-yi, the last emperor of China. He ascened to the throne at the age of five. Full of repressed desires and curiosity, he dreams about exotic plants and animals. His unfulfilled wishes come true in the form of magic and fantasy. Indulged with the scene, he regrets never having stepped outside of palace to an adventure.
