This project is a band/gig poster for any of my favorite bands, and we were supposed to base the illustration off of specific song lyrics from that band. I chose lyrics from Animal Collective's song, "The Purple Bottle," which read as follows:
I've got a big, big, big heartbeat
I think you are the sweetest thing
I wear a coat of feelings and they are loud
-and-
Can I tell you that you are the purple in me?
Initial "thumbnail sketch" for the poster. I ended up sticking with this color scheme because I thought it worked.
Fleshed out design and added embellishments, as well as text placement.
Isolated the lineart and cleaned it up enough to print and ink traditionally. (This image is the cleaner digital lineart).
Scanned the traditional lines back in and made everything clean, tidy, and finished!
