This project was one of my first projects in my Computer Animation class. We were asked to choose a poem and create an environment, originally modeled, lit, and rendered by us on our own. I decided to (classically) use an Edgar Allen Poe piece called "A Dream Within a Dream". Through this model, I tried to show the desperation that I felt the narrator feeling with the sand pouring through this person's hands and fingers and out of the off kelter "environment". This environment was created and rendering through Autodesk's Maya.
The First Draft

This first draft was my attempt at still trying to figure out how to use Maya effectively. I had no idea how to texture correctly, nor did I fully understand lighting and materials and to be completely honest, most things on the interface. I had to turn in to my teacher a first draft, and I obviously knew that this project needed a lot of work.
The Final Draft
The final draft was turned in late February, and I was proud of it. Seeing as I am more skilled in using Maya now, I am very aware of the things that I could've done better. However, as my first attempt at modeling and texturing something completely of my own in Maya and making my idea come to life in a 3D space, I feel pretty happy and proud of what I created.
