Treasure Raid was developed as part of the Capstone project for the Bachelor of Games & Interactive Media \ Bachelor of Mathematics degree at the Queensland University of Technology. Details about the game are listed below. Treasure Raid is a 2.9D Action Adventure Platformer set in Medieval Europe. You play as Lief, a noble thief with the unique ability to travel across multiple 2D layers. Lief can move into and out of layers, to find treasures and riches, and to travel across the dangerous landscape. As Lief's village goes further and further into poverty, he must leave his town, and steal from the rich to save his village. How much treasure you find will determine how much of the village is saved.
The player controls Lief, a young man brought into thievery to help protect his village from poverty. As his village grows closer to becoming wiped off the map, he must set off to find treasure to help his village escape impoverishment. The amount of treasure you collect is completely your choice, as not all treasure is easily accessible. Some require certain arrows to use, others may require difficult platforming to grab.
The treasure that you collect opens up different buildings in the village. Each building has a different benefit that can help you in gameplay. Some offer you cheats or challenges that can help you gain extra treasure, some offer you different arrows that can help you get around traps easier, other buildings may just have drunk people singing until they pass out. All these can be unlocked when you return to the town hub.
My role in the project was that of the programmer. As such, I was responsible for various aspects of the game including player controls, gameplay, user interface and environmental interactions.
