The Clayman Project

Quick doodle of my figure, bald, no mouth or distinct features to individualize itself.
I began making my figure using an armature made from wire, aluminum foil, and clay.
From the beginning I knew I wanted to scan in the figure using a program called Scan Studios. In order for the figure to scan in properly I needed to paint the whole thing white.
This is the machine I used to scan in the figure. The blue dots allowed for me to piece the images taken by the device together so that I could begin to import them into 3D modeling softwares.
This is one of the examples of how I played around with the form.
I decided to serial slice the form and make it larger. I think it came across better at a larger size. I serial sliced the form in Rhino and lasercut the pieces on cardboard.
This is the final piece on display at Alexander Hall in Savannah, GA.
