Catalog to accompany the first traveling retrospective of the artist's work in twenty-six years; on view at the Peabody Essex Museum, the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Unlike previous catalogs of Cornell's work, the design here eschews conventional, isolated treatment of the plates in favor of collage and multiple, overlapping views of the artwork; a presentation that more closely captures Cornell's multi-layered, multi-narrative approach.
