MABUHAY 2015
Below are the two iterations that my poster design went through, the latter being the final one. Mabuhay is an annual pan-Asian festival at Wesleyan University, CT that celebrates Asian/Asian-American culture through visual performances. "Mabuhay" is a Tagalog greeting meaning "long life."
This was the first iteration of the design. While the client really liked it already, I decided to give it another go since some people around were saying that it looked "too African," and I myself was not satisfied with the result.
I started researching more about Asian festivals and was enthralled by a Filipino festival called Masskara, from which I drew the inspiration for the second and final iteration.
... And this was the final result. A few non-Filipino Asian elements were added for the spirit of a pan-Asian culture show.
