“Don’t wait for the first bruise to call us” is the slogan of a fictional women’s shelter ad campaign addressed to women who might not be aware they are in an abusive relationship, or might think they have no support to turn to. The campaign design includes logo for Lighthouse Women’s Shelter, brochure, magazine ad, tablet ad, phone ad, and web banner.
The logo was designed to express the informal, friendly nature of the women’s shelter. The logo icon symbolizes a comfortable chair and looks like a woman doing relaxing exercises.
Magazine-sized ad. The question, “What’s the most unnatural thing about her face?” intends to invoke multiple answers: the unnatural beauty standards of the doll’s face, her frozen smile, and the bruise. The light theme is less likely to make the intended audience look away. Pink is used ironically, as it is stereotyped as a cheerful female color by the same gender roles that hurt women.
