This was a commissioned job for a Logo for a new sports subscription box service. Here is the initial briefing:
"The product is called Endurance Box – we will provide a monthly box of triathlon related gear and nutrition to athletes (runners, swimmers, cyclists and triathletes).
We need a simple but meaningful logo. We would like for the logo to include the name of the product as well as a related icon or image. We would like to use the logo as a single color stamp or vinyl adhesive sticker (on the side of a cardboard box) as well as more powerful colored options that could be used on websites, business cards or embroidered onto clothing
I would like to avoid the typical triathlon swim/run/biking man symbols. The logo and icon can be a bit abstract or conceptual but should still appeal to enduranceathletes in general. Perhaps it could convey a sense of movement, motion, and/or excitement."
Based on this briefing I started to sketch some ideas - I was looking for an image of a man running that was coming out of a box - the endurance box! After some sketches I arrived to the base drawing, which was later redone on computer. I used flat surfaces of color, keeping in mind one of the clients requests - that it would work well in one color print, as a stamp in cardboard boxes.
The final design is an athlete emerging from a box in a strong and powerful run, giving us the main idea about endurance box - a box full of power and energy, especially for athletes!
The box, is represented here by a simple "square" opening, fitting perfectly into "X" of the "box" word. The "box" word itself creates the length of the box, while incorporating the "endurance" word. The yellow and black color combination gives it a sense of energy and contrast that enhances the whole logo. The result is a very strong and unique logo, with a high sense of energy, motion, dynamism and power - out of the BOX!
The client loved it and asked me to make a female version as well!
This was a great project to be involved in and a pleasure to accomplish!
