Many of my portraits form part of a larger story. I do love taking candid portraits and try to bring the vitality of candid photography into posed portraits. I believe that there are a few simple rules-of-thumb that underly successful portraiture. Because they are simple (eye contact, angles, hands, direction of the light, etc.) they can be applied quickly and intuitively. I have helped students practice these principles in a series of portrait photography workshops.
