The Project
As a designer, I have always looked for opportunities to deepen and refine my skills. It is an added bonus when I can incorporate my personal interests in these projects. Given this, I created American Vistory, a platform for sharing encouragement and inspiration – what I feel we all need in today’s society – rooted in black history and culture – from which we can all learn invaluable life lessons.
The Process
Starting with the logo, I aimed for a stately, refined feel, something modern to mirror contemporary aesthetics, to reflect the goal to meet the needs of modern times, but also, to avoid the logo distracting from the content as a watermark, where all the different personalities and colors of the quotes would reside.
For selecting quotes, I use either a search engine, selecting a figure from black history, culture, and ancestry and search for a quote that’ll help people live a life most true to themselves, their goals, and universal values of justice, humanity, and positive development and encouragment, or choose a quote from African-American books of quotes.
