This was a project I was asked to do by a physician, Dr. Nicholas Robinson,who was writing a chapter in a cardiovascular text book.  He wanted me to illustrate the three iterations of a device used in heart valves.  I was given the source material and some notes from Dr. Robinson to illustrate these devices and the way that blood would flow through them. I used illustrator and employed a more photorealistic style than I normally use.
