Mrs.Robinson's Day Care Center
This project was done for an Interior Design class at Montgomery College. Mrs.Robinson (the client) wanted to start a Day Care Center in her basement; in order to start a Day Care Center there are many requirements and county regulations that must be met. For this project specifically, as a designer I was instructed to add these things to my design: bathroom (meeting NKBA regulations), nursery, two exits, kitchenette, and an office area for Mrs.Robinson.
For my project I decided on a Dr.Seuss theme. First, Dr.Seuss is not gender specific, it is something that is fit for both genders. Second, Dr.Seuss consists of light, pastel colors which would create a good colorful yet neutral environment for the children to play in. Psychologically, dark colors can impact the mood of people, therefore these colors are great in creating the attraction but limiting the impact on mood. With this in mind, my vision was to make a playful environment that is warm in tone and temperature.
