Pavilion for Two (2014)
[a child and her overprotective mother]

This project explores surface treatment as a basic architectural convention and condition. It also explores folding as a specific strategy for shaping and structuring planar materials. Through a progression from flattened sheets to three-dimensional space, an inhabitable space is generated. The construction consists of the outer skin and the inner frame construction.

The program of this space is a pavilion for two specific characters, a child and her overprotective mother. The narrative of the space unfolds with a single entrance, the two entering the space together, and maintains with a single exit, the two leaving the space together. Its spatial quality is depicted by three sections that blur the boundaries of interior and exterior spaces, all with opportunities for surveillance. The upper level, where the child resides, is overall exposed for the mother, who resides on the ground floor, to constantly keep watch of the child.
