Upcycled...bits and pieces

  • Part of a tabletop, the seat of a stool, a dairy crate, embossed ceiling panels, a cabinet door, and even a section of a canoe panel found their way into this eclectic amalgamation of object and memory. I was aided by my older sister’s contribution of Beyoncé jams, caffeine, and chocolaty sustenance during a surprise visit this past weekend. And after a few close calls with the chop saw, a number of splinters, and the inhalation of a bucket of sawdust and paint chips, I created a foundation for my images. Next, oil painting, screen-printing, and geometric string patterns worked to unify the disparate elements of found object.
