A series of hand printed and bound letterpress books expressing my personal interpretation of the Tao Te Ching. A key aspect is to reframe the conception of darkness as something negative to a more holistic view that recognizes the creative and generative aspect of darkness that bring about light and life. A short excerpt:

There was something formless and perfect

Before the universe was born.

It is serene. Empty.

Solitary. Unchanging.

Infinite. Eternally present.

It is the mother of the universe.

Form that includes all forms,

image without an image,

subtle, beyond all conception.

Things flourish, each by each,

Only to return to the source,

To what is and what is to be.

Seamless, unnamable,

it returns to the realm of nothing.

This source is called darkness.

Darkness within darkness.

The gateway to all understanding.
