Graphic Image Making

For this project I had to create illustrations for book/album covers which included
the words carmine, Charles Dickens, 299 792 458, Narnia and prize.

For each illustration, one of our words out of the five needed to be dominant,
however all five of the words needed to be present.
Carmine

Most commonly carmine is a dark "blood red" colour, however,
I came across the word in the name of several churches in Italy all called
"Santa Maria Del Carmine".

This was the inspiration for my collage which also includes various characters
in the windows of the churches to incorporate the other words.

Both Einstein & Ole Rømer (instrumental figures in the discovery of the
speed of light, 299 792 458) are present, along with a young and dapper
looking Charles Dickens and Alfred Nobel (the founder of the Nobel prize).
299 792 458 aka Speed of Light

I quickly discovered that the number above was the speed of light which was discovered by Ole Rømer.

Rømer used astrology to work out that light had a finite speed which is depicted by the stars in the illustration.

Both the wardobe and the snow are nods to Narnia and Dickens & Nobel are present. The telescope is carmine in colour.
Narnia

The rounded image is a door knob, which is meant to be the door knob
on the wardrobe which leads to Narnia.

The symbolic Narnia lamppost is present along with C.S Lewis's
signature and a snowfake. The name of the band and the song title
are also places in Narnia.

The centre of the image features a sunshine, there are medals
for the word prize and Dickens's bookplate is also present as well
as the whole thing being carmine in colour.
