I’ve always loved the beautiful-but-overlooked visual moments of everyday life.
For a number of years – before camera-enabled smartphones – I carried a small point-and-shoot camera. Each day I'd shoot at least a few photos.
I discovered that pairing the shots gave them new meaning. So began the “Daily Diptychs” project.
The rules were simple: Each diptych must come from a single day’s batch of photos. And photos cannot be retouched in any way. Unique effects are the result of photographing reflections, or images projected on screens, or out-of-focus subjects.
Here’s a sampling from the nearly 600 pieces originally published in 2001–2002.
