Inspired by a fallen seed pod, the final sculpture design was first modeled in clay. Next, the clay sculpture was invested in a plaster/silica mold and the clay was removed. The plaster mold was then filled with small particles of glass, called frit, and placed in the oven for firing. While firing, the frit melted, becoming fluid enough to fill the curves and crevices of the mold. After firing, the mold was removed and wire pods were added to reflect the inspiration behind the piece.
