“The poster artist plays the part of the telegraph: he does not emit messages, he transmits them...one merely asks him to establish clear, powerful and precise communication.”
- Cassandre
The invitation card is the feature piece that really reflects the idea of clear and powerful communication. On the front cover is Morse code; creating mystery and intrigue. Once opened you will see wires connecting from the code through a figure where it is transmitted clearly to spell out Cassandre. The imagery inside the invitation is powerful so it is balanced with simplicity for the rest of the design.
The envelope shows a conversation between two figures and the transmission lines are purposefully leading the recipient to the back of the envelope where the name of the exhibition appears and where the next step for opening it lies. Art Deco inspired fonts including Bifur (designed by Cassandre himself) are used for the design.
