Self Portrait reflection

reflection for DID self portrait

The message i am trying to portray in my self portrait is thought,  if you look at the picture you can see me in deep thought, i do not know what i am thinking but just the way i am looking into the distance and the way my hand is placed on my face can really illustrate me being in thought.   The artist i chose to portray my art was Chris Ofili and the painting “No Woman No Cry” it is not a “happy piece or a joyous piece it seems to be a serious piece that is trying to communicate a serious topic, or thought.  This relates to my work in the sense that i am almost trying to portray the same message.  The artist went about communicating the same message by, not having much detail and having the subject in the artwork looking off into one direction like what i did. As you look at a piece like this you wonder “what may the subject be looking at or thinking about” and that is what makes it a strong piece.  Also, just by the artist putting tears coming from the subjects eyes it shows emotion and it makes it stronger, simple touches like tat made the piece more powerful.  It is mostly similar to my work in how the subject is looking to the side and seems to be i  thought about a deep topic.
