Introduction to Sculpture

A State of Mind: Potentiality in Equilibrium (left); 1/4" steel rod, 1/16" steel plate; techniques: welding, plasma cutting
This piece uses line, form, and surface to imply a state of balance, as well as potential movement and change.
Technical Assignment: The Cube (right): 1/4" steel rod, 1/16" steel sheet, 1/16" copper plate; techniques: welding, soldering
Objects and Narrative: Lunchtime, where fit?
1/2" pine board, rice, seaweed, pickled plum, pickled ginger, pickled radish, tea leaves, sesame seeds, found objects
This piece contains my personal narrative of confusion about my mixed cultural background in the context of grade school in relation to the container, the bento box.
Technical Documentation
1/2" pine board, beexwax polish; three stacking 6" x 4" x 2" boxes
Multiplicity and Material Transformation
plastic garbage bags, paper towels, found objects
This piece uses the repetition of an on-trend crop top and the transformation into materials that are meant for only one use to comment on the excess of the garment industry and our throw-away clothing culture.

Phenomenology: Feltshake
felted, mx-dyed wool
This piece uses a very tactile process, felt making, to consider the tactility of human interactions, specifically in the form of a handshake.  It asks the audience to consider the comfort and discomfort of the human touch and the social proximity, distance, and hierarchy associated with the level of comfort in any given handshake.
