Visible Systems- The assignment was to create icons and then show our icons in use. I chose to make icons of shoes. I had to make a simplified version of 5 different kinds of shoes.

Type and Image - The assignment was to create a two spread layout for a magazine feature article. The design should demonstrate an ability to use a grid and typographic hierarchy as well as reflecting the content of the article and the magazine's audience. This project included paying attention to the headline, subhead, byline, folio, body copy, drop cap, pull quote, sidebar, and photography or illustration.

Type and Image- The assignment was to create visual meaning between three seemingly unreleated messages and, using the type and images randomly assigned, visually communicate the genre of music. Consider how formal decisions affect the reading of the linguistic message, the coded iconic message and the non-coded iconic message. We chose the artist name by finding a random article on wikipedia, the album name was the last four words of the last quote from quotationspage.com, and the album artwork was from the first image on flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days. We chose specific genres for the album covers. The top row is singer/song writer, classical, then blues. The middle row is indie, pop, country and the bottom row is electronic, singer/song writer, alternative rock.

"How to" assignment. The project required making vector images that gave guided steps to making anything of our choosing.

During my internship at Exit Art, I worked on creating illustrations for the show NEW MONEY: Business Models for a Sustainable Future. This exhibition contains videos, photographs, and socially conscious products from more than a dozen companies with business models that have environmental and social consciousness at their core, emphasizing sustainbility and social responsibility. Two of the models that I worked on were Fair Trade and Bartering Networks. I researched these two models and condensed the important points in a paragraph above an illustration. The illustration was created to help create an easier understanding of the models through simple images and diagrams.
