Shave Ice Shop Design Project

Problem
The menu of the shave ice & bubble tea shop is too disorganized. The owner wants the menu to be more organized and have better legibility and design.

Objective
My goal is to create a well-designed menu based on categories of items they sell in the store.

Requirements
The owner wanted a colorful and playful theme because a lot of their customers are children from the nearby elementary school and neighborhood.

Process
First, I sorted out all the items they were selling into categories: shave ice, tea, soda, coffee, smoothie, and add-ons. Next, I did some research online about what menus usually looked like, and started the process of ideation. I drew multiple sketches, and then consulting the owner which style he liked the best. After narrowing down, I created the menu using Adobe InDesign and Photoshop. After showing the high-fidelity prototype to the owner, he suggested a few changes, and the design was set.

I was also asked to make a "Top 4 Drinks" graphic for their bulletin board (last figure). For this part, I had to create the images by myself by taking pictures of the drinks and editing them using Adobe Photoshop.

Takeaways
It was a fun process working with an actual client with client's requirements. From this project, I learned to always consult the stakeholders for opinion so that no extra time is wasted in the process.
