Butcher was a series of patterns made for my Pattern class at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
Originating from a series of my own small sketches based on a meat cleaver (a reoccurring item in my work), I decided to expand on that sketch by creating an entire pattern based on different culinary knives and instruments, primarily those used in butchery. To then complement that pattern, I created a series of patterns based on different cuts of meat.
While the assignment was to make a series of patterns to be used as a wallpaper, I went ahead and expanded the pattern to be used for fabrics which would be used in tandem with the wallpaper, in this case, aprons.
