Exhibited at MICA. This project also was an experimental test as a step towards my senior theses.
As a designer and creator, I am constantly approaching my work with the idea that I am in control, attempting to shape something that inevitably has the upper hand. So how much control do we have as creators really? Us, versus the tools and materials that we use in order to create what we want. We have constructed concepts, definitions and an aesthetic of what design is and isn’t, what art is and isn’t. We say as creatives we are pushing boundaries, and thinking outside the box so to speak. But we are in-fact simply creating within our limitations. We assume we are the sole creators of our creations and forget the greater collaborator compromising herself for us to create.
